Five Fantastic Dog-Friendly Breweries in the LA Area

What’s even better than a SoCal craft beer? A SoCal craft beer with our dogs in tow! Vetted PetCare is based in LA; our vets and pet-loving staff spend a lot of time out and about with our dogs. We all agree that one of the best ways to enjoy the perennially-beautiful weather is to take our pets to a local dog-friendly brewhouse. There are more great options than you think! Based on our (totally unscientific) observations, here are five excellent dog-friendly breweries in Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
1. The Pub at Golden Road
Golden Road Brewing is one of the most well-known LA breweries, but did you know their flagship brewhouse near Griffith Park in LA is actually super dog-friendly? Open seven days a week, the Pub has over 20 beers on tap and a great food menu, too. The environment is very casual and family friendly, so you can bring the kids and your dog(s). There’s even a “doggy deck” in back outfitted with water bowls and cozy dog beds! Before you leave, grab a homemade doggy biscuit baked using leftover grains from the brewery.
2. Browerij West
Located in San Pedro, Browerij West has one of the coolest vibes of any brewery in SoCal, much less a dog friendly one. Make sure Fido is on-leash and well-behaved, then head over to the tasting room for some hyper-seasonal brews in an industrial-chic space. Yes, it’s kid-friendly, too, and the locale also puts on several events and live music shows every week.
3. Beachwood Brewing & BBQ (Long Beach)
We mostly go here for the killer barbecue, but the beer is top-notch, too! Beachwood’s Long Beach location is a great spot for dogs – take your pooch for a long walk through the incredibly dog-friendly neighborhood then end up here for a pint and some pork. The outdoor patio (with amazing views, natch) is on-leash dog friendly and we bet your pup won’t even mind if you drop a slice of barbecue…
4. Smog City Brewing
Smog City’s eponymous taproom is the place to be if you’re into really, really good beer. The great news is, your four-legged pal is welcome in the Torrance-located taproom as long as he’s well-behaved and sticks close. Our favorite part about hitting up Smog City is that it’s just a short walk away from another great dog-friendly brewery, Monkish. Create your own brewery crawl, anyone?
5. Angel City Brewery
You can’t make a list of dog-friendly LA breweries without spotlighting Angel City in downtown Los Angeles. The entire facility (with the exception of the brewing facilities, obviously) is open to dogs, and there’s a massive patio. This is the kind of place that doesn’t just welcome dogs, they cater to them: Frisbees for sale, water bowls galore, and even a monthly dog wash fundraiser for a local pet charity. For the ultimate in dog-friendly LA vibes, start here. Ready for a brewdate with your best (furry) friend? Before you go, a few things to remember:
-
- Always bring your leash with you, even if a brewery is “off-leash.” You never know who else’s dog might be a little aggressive
- It’s smart to bring a collapsible water bowl just in case your pooch gets a little overheated in the LA sun
- Never allow your dog to roam unattended or to approach strangers without you; the brewery might be dog-friendly but that doesn’t mean everyone there will be!
- Never let your dog drink beer. Even a small amount of alcohol can be life-threateningly toxic to your dog (or cat), so watch him closely to make sure he doesn’t get a hold of someone’s glass
