What is Animal Kingdom of Santa Monica?

Animal Kingdom is located in the Pico district of Santa Monica. They’ve long specialized in providing dog and cat owners with healthy, affordable pet food (and clothes, and leashes, and treats…) but they also offer exceptional doggy day care and grooming services! It’s a locally-owned and operated small business so the service is well above and beyond what you might expect from a larger corporate pet store.

What Do We Love About Animal Kingdom?

Well for starters, there’s the store’s long-term commitment to sourcing the healthiest, most respected brands in pet food. They offer a wide range of grain-free, vegetarian, raw, low-glycemic, and potato-free pet food and manage to keep prices affordable, even by “Internet Age” standards. Animal Kingdom is so committed to helping you feed your dog or cat the best food possible, they’ll even special order food on your behalf. And…bonus! They deliver!  The in-house grooming services at Animal Kingdom are also top-notch. Unlike big-box pet grooming facilities, AK dogs and cats (yes, cats! The store has special cat grooming experts on staff) are seen one appointment at a time to ensure the least amount of cage time possible. The environment is calm and relaxing and the groomers will even use aromatherapy and soothing music at your request! Does your human hair stylist even do that!? In addition to regular grooming, Animal Kingdom also offers special treatments like a “Blueberry Facial” or nail trimming. Doggy daycare is the store’s newest offering. There’s a great deal of flexibility in terms of drop-off timing and even extended day pick-up times for busy pet parents. Dogs in the day care get lots of time for “pack play” and there’s even a bright, sunny outdoor area complete with training toys, rubber tires, and even kiddie pools for those particularly hot SoCal afternoons.
